Mary's Flower Superhead - Touch To A Blast
|
We could not have picked a more fitting location for Mary’s Flower Superhead’s bandrop session. The basement of an antiques store, cramped with the plethora of objects that belong to Ioannis Vavatsis’s collection of anything related to childhood, some of them dating back to the early 20th century – the ideal materialization of a cabinet de curiosité. More antique stores (not the posh kind; rather the treasure-hunting ones) are located around. The area is known as bit bazaar (Turkish for lice –not flea– market), because of the contaminated clothes that were sold here, when the market was established, back in 1928, by refugees who had come from Asia Minor.
Elias, Thanos and Nick could be camouflaged, surrounded by the myriads of toys and objects that cover the entire space – floor, walls, ceiling. At the moment that Maurice says “rolling”, Nick spots “danny the clown seal” – the box, the lettering, the image that takes shape in his head… He composes himself and plays the song; one of the best takes. As soon as it’s over, he bursts into laughter. A bit later, while Chryse is photographing them with the world in their hands, they could be part of a new game called “spot the band”… |
